Beschrijving

This is a new edition of the Biography of Pir o Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan which has been out of print for many years. The biography was originally published by East-West Publications in 1979.

The text of the biography remains intact, with minor changes to correct spellings, dates, typographical errors from the first edition, and some errors of translation from Dutch to English. It was decided to take out the diacritical marks (marks or accents above or below a letter to indicate a particular pronunciation) and the asterisks marking inclusion in the Notes and Glossary as it was felt that these marks impeded the reader rather than helping. Nor does this edition include the reference section. The Foundation has made a scan of all these documents and they are now available on the website (www. nekbakhtfoundation.org).

An extensive search of the archives in Suresnes has been made but we have been unable to find originals of all the photographs included at the end of the biography under the heading List of Illustrations. It is possible that for the first edition individuals were asked to provide a photograph of themselves and that this was then returned to them. The reader will therefore notice a difference between the photographs which are a mixture of scans from the first edition and actual photographs held within the archive collection.
